On The Water Review
Fishing System
 First
off the Loon Fishing System is a rather useful
pack. My first impressions when I first saw an
image of the pack I thought, "That's nice but I
would never use that." I felt it would most
likely end up with a pile of other gear I never
seemed to use. I am sure you too have a
graveyard in a closet or basement at your home
with bagged coolers, thermoses, water bottles,
cases etc., etc. Well Loon has proved otherwise.
This pack is actually well thought out and looks
very useful, I was very surprised and impressed!
The pack can be worn around your waist as a
fanny or belly pack, hung over your shoulder, or
around your neck like a chest pack. The straps
are well padded and is rather comfortable to
wear. It is easily adjusted to fit about any
size.
Now what I love about this pack is the storage.
There are three large zippered storage
compartments. The back compartment has no
dividers, it is just a zippered compartment.
Great for your bigger fly boxes. The middle
section features a netted divider on one side
and a nylon double divider on the other. There
also is a key ring keeper in this pocket for
your car keys. The front compartment features
two nylon dividers. This front section can be
fully unzipped to reveal a drop down fly bench.
There are two removable replaceable foam fly
inserts. The outer front sports two small
zippered mesh pockets, great place for a spool
of tippet.
There are two water bottles attached on each
side, a hemostat holder, and accessory zingers
attached. I would definitely use this pack for
when I am fly fishing from my boat, saltwater
fly fishing the beach, or even when I just want
a trip to the river and don't want to lug a
heavy vest. Needles to say this pack will not
end up in the graveyard of unused gear!
