20 Years of Innovative Products

In 1990, Jim Vincent founded RIO in the mountains of Idaho on the idea that exceptional fly fishing products should be built by anglers for anglers. Twenty years later, we’re still in Idaho and driven by that same ethos.

Most of us here are your basic passionate fly fishing bums, looking for any excuse to get on the water as much as we can. Often, that means tinkering with tapers, coatings and cores to bring you the very best lines on the market. This year, we’ve enjoyed getting out on our home waters and testing our two newest lines: the Trout LT (Light Touch) and the new Indicator Line. We think you’ll find these two new lines to be among our best yet and must-haves in the arsenal of the serious trout angler.

Trout LT

New for 2010 • Delicate Presentations
DualTone™

RIO’s latest trout fly line has been designed for the ultimate in performance for traditional trout fly fishing techniques. A long, delicate front taper ensures the softest of presentations, making the line perfect for fishing dry flies, soft hackles, emergers, small nymphs and chironomids, while an extended body gives the line stability at range and makes mending and roll casting easy. The weight distribution helps load a fly rod when fishing at short range or on smaller rivers and creeks, though it is manufactured precisely to the AFTMA standard and is ideal for all but the fastest of fly rods.

Skagit Flight Head

New for 2010
The new Skagit Flight Shooting Head is the very ultimate design in Skagit lines for maximum flight time, effortless casting strokes and the tightest and sweetest of loops. Based on the extraordinarily successful AFS head, the line features a back end that loads rods deeply and easily and a long, subtle front taper that ensures the energy flows smoothly to the tip, generating gorgeous loops and long, long flight times and distance. The front end has a thick tip that packs a big punch and easily lifts out heavy tips and large flies with supreme ease.

Saltwater Line

The all-purpose saltwater line for bonefish, redfish, stripers or snook with a taper design that will turn over big flies into any wind. This line is made on a braided multifilament core for suppleness and has a hard AgentX saltwater coating that ensures the running line floats and RIO’s XS Technology for the slickest of finishes and ultimate in distance casts. Ideal for fishing in normal and early season conditions, it includes welded loops on both ends for easy rigging. The light coral color is incredibly easy to see in all light conditions.
